ВЕТХИЙ ЗАВЕТПритчи Соломона
ГЛАВА 18.
1Прихоти ищет своенравный, восстает против всего умного.
2Глупый не любит знания, а только бы выказать свой ум.
3С приходом нечестивого приходит и презрение, а с бесславием - поношение.
4Слова уст человеческих - глубокие воды; источник мудрости - струящийся поток.
5Нехорошо быть лицеприятным к нечестивому, чтобы ниспровергнуть праведного на суде.
6Уста глупого идут в ссору, и слова его вызывают побои.
7Язык глупого - гибель для него, и уста его - сеть для души его.
8[Ленивого низлагает страх, а души женоподобные будут голодать.]
9Слова наушника - как лакомства, и они входят во внутренность чрева.
10Нерадивый в работе своей - брат расточителю.
11Имя Господа - крепкая башня: убегает в нее праведник - и безопасен.
12Имение богатого - крепкий город его, и как высокая ограда в его воображении.
13Перед падением возносится сердце человека, а смирение предшествует славе.
14Кто дает ответ не выслушав, тот глуп, и стыд ему.
15Дух человека переносит его немощи; а пораженный дух - кто может подкрепить его?
16Сердце разумного приобретает знание, и ухо мудрых ищет знания.
17Подарок у человека дает ему простор и до вельмож доведет его.
18Первый в тяжбе своей прав, но приходит соперник его и исследывает его.
19Жребий прекращает споры и решает между сильными.
20Озлобившийся брат неприступнее крепкого города, и ссоры подобны запорам за'мка.
21От плода уст человека наполняется чрево его; произведением уст своих он насыщается.
22Смерть и жизнь - во власти языка, и любящие его вкусят от плодов его.
23Кто нашел [добрую] жену, тот нашел благо и получил благодать от Господа. [Кто изгоняет добрую жену, тот изгоняет счастье, а содержащий прелюбодейку - безумен и нечестив.]
24С мольбою говорит нищий, а богатый отвечает грубо.
25Кто хочет иметь друзей, тот и сам должен быть дружелюбным; и бывает друг, более привязанный, нежели брат.

OLD TESTAMENTProverbs of Solomon
CHAPTER 18.
1Privacy is looking for a wayward, rebelling against everything smart.
2 A fool does not like knowledge, but only to show his mind.
3With the coming of the wicked comes contempt, and with dishonor, reproach.
4The words of human lips are deep waters; the source of wisdom is the flowing stream.
5 It is not good to be partial to the wicked in order to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 The lips of a fool go into quarrels, and his words cause beatings.
7 The tongue of a fool is ruin to him, and his mouth is a snare for his soul.
8 [Fear casts down the lazy, but effeminate souls will starve.]
9 The words of the earpiece are like delicacies, and they enter the interior of the womb.
10 A negligent person in his work is a brother to a squander.
11The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous flees into it and is safe.
12The rich man's name is his strong city, and like a high fence in his imagination.
13 Before the fall, the heart of man is exalted, but humility precedes glory.
14 He who gives an answer without listening is foolish, and he is ashamed.
15A man's spirit bears his infirmities; but the afflicted spirit - who can support it?
16 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
17 A gift from a man gives him room and will bring him to the nobles.
18First in the litigation of his rights, but his opponent comes and examines him.
19 The draw ends disputes and decides between the strong.
20 An angry brother is more inaccessible than a strong city, and quarrels are like the bars of a castle.
21From the fruit of a man's mouth the belly is filled; by the work of his lips he is satisfied.
22 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will partake of its fruit.
23 Whoever found a [good] wife found good and received grace from the Lord. [He who casts out a good wife casts out happiness, but whoever casts an adulteress is insane and wicked.]
24 The beggar speaks pleadingly, but the rich answers rudely.
25 Whoever wants to have friends must be friendly himself; and there is a friend more attached than a brother.
