И застала его ночь

Сколько очиньки не три,
Не видать просвета…
Потерял тропинку он,
Растерялся,

Насмехался…
Зацепился на сучок
Да споткнулся
И в холодный ручеек
Окунулся…

Разум сразу не поймет,
Что это за диво –
Не вода в ручье течет –
Мед игривый!
Как-то сразу все в лесу
Изменилось,
Эка невидаль тут с ним
Приключилась!

Только вылез из ручья –
Вовсе замер,
Чудо-чудное встает
Пред глазами…
Впереди него поляна,
Там костер пылает,
Странный люд вокруг шумит,
Песни распевает,
Седовласые волхвы
Важно восседают,
Войны грозные, шутя,
Чаши поднимают,
На поляне крики, смех
Эхом разошлися –
Девки красные с парнями
В танце собралися;
Припев:
Веселей пылал огонь,
Ночь не страшной стала,
Тьма большой волшебный круг
Свету отдавала;
И казалось дерева
Место уступали –
Гусли, бубны да рожки
Сердце волновали!

Из народа вдруг к нему
Девица подходит,
Берет за руку его
И к костру подводит;
Глаз уже не отвести –
До чего ж красива!
Чару меду поднесла,
Улыбнулась мило…
Путник чарку осушил,
А затем вторую,
Словно он среди своих
Жизнь начал другую;
Закружился в танце с ней –
Вот душе услада!
Окунулся с головой
В таинство обряда

Дивных красок небеса,
Всюду чьи-то голоса
И волшебные виденья
На поляне у огня!
Путник брел своей тропой –
Вдруг, открыл он мир другой,
Мир без страха и сомнений,
Сердцу странника родной!

До зари шел праздник тот –
Он не знал печали,
Боги неба и земли
Тайны раскрывали;
Был он птицей в вышине,
Миром любовался,
Плыл он рыбой в глубине,
Зверем в дебрях мчался…

А проснувшись по утру,
Не найдет ответа –
То ли было наяву,
Аль приснилось это?
Подошел скорей к ручью –
Вдруг там мед струится?
Но не мед в ручье течет –
Чистая водица…
Осмотрелся – никого,
Что это за лихо?
На поляне нет следов,
Все спокойно, тихо…
Вспоминая, размышлял –
Разве так бывает?
А веночек по ручью
Мимо проплывает…
