По прошествии дней шести, взял Иисус Петра, Иакова и Иоанна, брата его, и возвел их на гору высокую одних,и преобразился пред ними: и просияло лице Его, как солнце, одежды же Его сделались белыми, как свет.
И вот, явились им Моисей и Илия, с Ним беседующие.
При сем Петр сказал Иисусу: Господи! хорошо нам здесь быть; если хочешь, сделаем здесь три кущи: Тебе одну, и Моисею одну, и одну Илии.
Когда он еще говорил, се, облако светлое осенило их; и се, глас из облака глаголющий: Сей есть Сын Мой Возлюбленный, в Котором Мое благоволение; Его слушайте.
И, услышав, ученики пали на лица свои и очень испугались.
Но Иисус, приступив, коснулся их и сказал: встаньте и не бойтесь.
Возведя же очи свои, они никого не увидели, кроме одного Иисуса.
И когда сходили они с горы, Иисус запретил им, говоря: никому не сказывайте о сем видении, доколе Сын Человеческий не воскреснет из мертвых.
И спросили Его ученики Его: как же книжники говорят, что Илии надлежит прийти прежде?
Иисус сказал им в ответ: правда, Илия должен прийти прежде и устроить всё;
но говорю вам, что Илия уже пришел, и не узнали его, а поступили с ним, как хотели; тáк и Сын Человеческий пострадает от них.
Тогда ученики поняли, что Он говорил им об Иоанне Крестителе.
Когда они пришли к народу, то подошел к Нему человек и, преклоняя пред Ним колени,
сказал: Господи! помилуй сына моего; он в новолуния беснуется и тяжко страдает, ибо часто бросается в огонь и часто в воду,
я приводил его к ученикам Твоим, и они не могли исцелить его.
Иисус же, отвечая, сказал: о, род неверный и развращенный! доколе буду с вами? доколе буду терпеть вас? приведите его ко Мне сюда.
И запретил ему Иисус, и бес вышел из него; и отрок исцелился в тот час.
Тогда ученики, приступив к Иисусу наедине, сказали: почему мы не могли изгнать его?
Иисус же сказал им: по неверию вашему; ибо истинно говорю вам: если вы будете иметь веру с горчичное зерно и скажете горе сей: «перейди отсюда туда», и она перейдет; и ничего не будет невозможного для вас;
сей же род изгоняется только молитвою и постом.
Во время пребывания их в Галилее, Иисус сказал им: Сын Человеческий предан будет в руки человеческие,
и убьют Его, и в третий день воскреснет. И они весьма опечалились.
Когда же пришли они в Капернаум, то подошли к Петру собиратели дидрахм* и сказали: Учитель ваш не даст ли дидрахмы? //*Две драхмы – определенная дань на храм.
Он говорит: да. И когда вошел он в дом, то Иисус, предупредив его, сказал: как тебе кажется, Симон? цари земные с кого берут пошлины или подати? с сынов ли своих, или с посторонних?
Петр говорит Ему: с посторонних. Иисус сказал ему: итак сыны свободны;
но, чтобы нам не соблазнить их, пойди на море, брось уду, и первую рыбу, которая попадется, возьми, и, открыв у ней рот, найдешь статир*; возьми его и отдай им за Меня и за себя.

After six days passed, Jesus took Peter, James and John his brother, and elevated them to a high mountain alone,and he was transfigured before them: and his face shone like the sun, but his garments became white as light.
And so, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
Thus Peter said to Jesus: Lord! it’s good for us to be here; if you want, we’ll do three things here: You alone, and Moses one, and one Elijah.
When he still said, lo, a light cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice from the cloud saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; Listen to him.
And when they heard the disciples fell on their faces and were very afraid.
But Jesus, having come, touched them and said: Rise and be not afraid.
Having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus alone.
And when they went down the mountain, Jesus forbade them, saying: Do not tell anyone about this vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.
And his disciples asked him: How then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
Jesus answered them: True, Elijah must come first and arrange everything;
but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him as they wanted; so also the Son of Man will suffer from them.
Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
When they came to the people, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him,
said: Lord! have mercy on my son; on the new moon he rages and suffers badly, for he often throws himself into the fire and often into the water,
I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not heal him.
Jesus, answering, said: Oh, an unfaithful and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? bring him to me here.
And Jesus forbade him, and a demon came out of him; and the boy was healed at that hour.
Then the disciples, having approached Jesus in private, said: why couldn’t we cast him out?
Jesus said unto them, By your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if you have faith with a mustard seed and say to this grief, “go from here to there,” and she will pass; and nothing will be impossible for you;
the same kind is driven out only by prayer and fasting.
While they were in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of Man will be betrayed into the hands of men,
and they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again. And they were very sad.
When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of didrachms * approached Peter and said: Will your teacher not give didrachms? // * Two drachmas - a certain tribute to the temple.
He says yes. And when he entered the house, Jesus, warning him, said: do you think Simon? the kings of the earth from whom do they take duties or taxes? whether from their sons, or from outsiders?
Peter tells him: from strangers. Jesus said to him: So the sons are free;
but, so that we do not seduce them, go to the sea, give up oud, and take the first fish that comes across, and, opening her mouth, you will find a statir *; take it and give it to them for Me and for yourself.
