А на похоронах печального ПьероИграл оркестр марш и хмуры были лица,
А где-то в небесах так звонко и светло
Пел то ли соловей, то ли другая птица.
И маленький оркестр, забыв привычный шаг,
Под пенье соловья вдруг в вальсе закружился,
И, на два колеса хромая, катафалк
К кладбищенским воротам резво покатился.
И мрачная толпа, заслышав дивный вальс,
И пенье соловья, и стук колёс о камни,
Воскликнула: "Пьеро, не покидайте нас,
За Вами мы пойдём, и песня будет с нами!"
И дамы под манто потели, чуть дыша,
Спешили старики, и веселились дети.
И показалось всем, что грустная душа
Печального Пьеро вдруг улыбнулась смерти
