В начале царствования Иоакима, сына Иосии, царя Иудейского, было слово сие к Иеремии от Господа:так сказал мне Господь: сделай себе узы и ярмо и возложи их себе на выю;
и пошли такие же к царю Идумейскому, и к царю Моавитскому, и к царю сыновей Аммоновых, и к царю Тира, и к царю Сидона, через послов, пришедших в Иерусалим к Седекии, царю Иудейскому;
и накажи им сказать государям их: так говорит Господь Саваоф, Бог Израилев: так скажите государям вашим:
Я сотворил землю, человека и животных, которые на лице земли, великим могуществом Моим и простертою мышцею Моею, и отдал ее, кому Мне благоугодно было.
И ныне Я отдаю все земли сии в руку Навуходоносора, царя Вавилонского, раба Моего, и даже зверей полевых отдаю ему на служение.
И все народы будут служить ему и сыну его и сыну сына его, доколе не придет время и его земле и ему самому; и будут служить ему народы многие и цари великие.
И если какой народ и царство не захочет служить ему, Навуходоносору, царю Вавилонскому, и не подклонит выи своей под ярмо царя Вавилонского, — этот народ Я накажу мечом, голодом и моровою язвою, говорит Господь, доколе не истреблю их рукою его.
И вы не слушайте своих пророков и своих гадателей, и своих сновидцев, и своих волшебников, и своих звездочетов, которые говорят вам: «не будете служить царю Вавилонскому».
Ибо они пророчествуют вам ложь, чтобы удалить вас из земли вашей, и чтобы Я изгнал вас и вы погибли.
Народ же, который подклонит выю свою под ярмо царя Вавилонского и станет служить ему, Я оставлю на земле своей, говорит Господь, и он будет возделывать ее и жить на ней.
И Седекии, царю Иудейскому, я говорил всеми сими словами и сказал: подклоните выю свою под ярмо царя Вавилонского и служите ему и народу его, и будете живы.
Зачем умирать тебе и народу твоему от меча, голода и моровой язвы, как изрек Господь о том народе, который не будет служить царю Вавилонскому?
И не слушайте слов пророков, которые говорят вам: «не будете служить царю Вавилонскому»; ибо они пророчествуют вам ложь.
Я не посылал их, говорит Господь; и они ложно пророчествуют именем Моим, чтоб Я изгнал вас и чтобы вы погибли, — вы и пророки ваши, пророчествующие вам.
И священникам и всему народу сему я говорил: так говорит Господь: не слушайте слов пророков ваших, которые пророчествуют вам и говорят: «вот, скоро возвращены будут из Вавилона сосуды дома Господня»; ибо они пророчествуют вам ложь.
Не слушайте их, служите царю Вавилонскому и живите; зачем доводить город сей до опустошения?
А если они пророки, и если у них есть слово Господне, то пусть ходатайствуют пред Господом Саваофом, чтобы сосуды, остающиеся в доме Господнем и в доме царя Иудейского и в Иерусалиме, не перешли в Вавилон.
Ибо так говорит Господь Саваоф о столбах и о медном море и о подножиях и о прочих вещах, оставшихся в этом городе,
которых Навуходоносор, царь Вавилонский, не взял, когда Иехонию, сына Иоакима, царя Иудейского, и всех знатных Иудеев и Иерусалимлян вывел из Иерусалима в Вавилон,
ибо так говорит Господь Саваоф, Бог Израилев, о сосудах, оставшихся в доме Господнем и в доме царя Иудейского и в Иерусалиме:
они будут отнесены в Вавилон и там останутся до того дня, когда Я посещу их, говорит Господь, и выведу их и возвращу их на место сие.

At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord:Thus said the Lord to me: Make yourself a bond and a yoke, and put them on your neck;
And they went the same to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the sons of Ammon, and to the king of Tire, and to the king of Sidon, through the ambassadors who came to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah;
And punish them to say to their masters: Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: thus say to your masters:
I created the earth, man and animals that are on the face of the earth, by my great might and by my outstretched arm, and I gave it to whom I pleased.
And now I give all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, my servant, and even the beasts of the field I give him to serve.
And all the nations will serve him and his son and the son of his son, until the time comes for his land and for himself; and many nations and great kings will serve him.
And if any nation and kingdom does not want to serve him, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and does not bow his neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish this people with the sword, hunger and pestilence, says the Lord, until I destroy them by his hand.
And you do not listen to your prophets and your fortunetellers, and your dreamers, and your wizards, and your astrologers, who tell you: "You will not serve the king of Babylon."
For they prophesy lies to you, in order to remove you from your land, and that I might drive you out and you perish.
But the people who will bow their necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and begin to serve him, I will leave on their land, says the Lord, and he will cultivate it and live on it.
And I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah with all these words and said: Bring your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and you will live.
Why should you and your people die from the sword, hunger and pestilence, as the Lord said about the people who will not serve the king of Babylon?
And do not listen to the words of the prophets who tell you: "You will not serve the king of Babylon"; for they prophesy lies to you.
I did not send them, says the Lord; and they falsely prophesy in my name, so that I might drive you out and that you perish — you and your prophets who prophesy to you.
And to the priests and to all this people I said: thus says the Lord: do not listen to the words of your prophets, who prophesy to you and say: “Behold, the vessels of the house of the Lord will soon be brought back from Babylon”; for they prophesy lies to you.
Do not listen to them, serve the king of Babylon and live; Why bring this city to desolation?
And if they are prophets, and if they have the word of the Lord, then let them intercede before the Lord of hosts, so that the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem may not go over to Babylon.
For thus says the Lord of hosts about the pillars and about the sea of brass and about the soils and other things that remained in this city,
whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and all the noble Jews and Jerusalemites brought out of Jerusalem to Babylon,
for thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that were left in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem:
they will be carried to Babylon and will remain there until the day when I visit them, says the Lord, and I will bring them out and return them to this place.
