За всей сменой стилей и лет неизменно кроется заоблачная печаль и романтическая красота.Этим альбомом #Alcest достигли той эфирной высоты, к которой, так или иначе, стремились на последних альбомах. Подобно коллегам из британской группы #Anathema дуэт практически полностью избавился от своего металлического прошлого, и теперь в его музыке на всем протяжении царит мечтательная монотонность, ритмический покой и искусная дрим-поп романтика в духе #Cocteau_Twins. За типичными для пост-рока звуковыми полотнами и парящим вокалом иногда возникают рок-гитары, как в «Voix Serenies» или в заглавном треке «Shelter», но служат лишь для заполнения пространства и добавления дарк-акцентов. Любители ранних записей Alcest могут не оценить безобидность сингла «Opale», сменяющей его лайт-композиции «La Nuit Marce Avec Moi» со стремящимися к свету, хрупкими мелодиями, или инди-поп-баллады «Away». Слишком уж приторным получается очарование, в нем по старой памяти не хватает диссонансов или контрастного напряжения. Арт-поп-композиция «L’Eveil Des Muses» и десятиминутный эпический финал Délivrance» погружают слушателя в мир фантазий, отключая его от остального мира. Грандиозные по своей атмосфере темы идеально подходят для озвучки удивительных пейзажей Исландии, где альбом и записывался. Однозначно, альбом «Shelter» не разочарует любителей спокойной меланхоличной музыки.»

“Exploration of the endless depths of music has led this French duo from black metal horror stories to enlightened dream shoeing. The whole change of styles and years invariably hides transcendental sadness and romantic beauty.With this album, #Alcest reached the ethereal height to which, one way or another, they strived for on the last albums. Like colleagues from the British group #Anathema, the duo has almost completely got rid of their metal past, and now their music is dominated by dreamy monotony, rhythmic peace and skillful dream-pop romance in the spirit of #Cocteau_Twins. Behind the typical post-rock soundscapes and soaring vocals, rock guitars sometimes appear, as in "Voix Serenies" or in the title track "Shelter", but serve only to fill the space and add dark accents. Fans of early Alcest recordings may not appreciate the harmlessness of the single "Opale", which replaces it with the light composition "La Nuit Marce Avec Moi" with light-headed, fragile melodies, or the indie-pop ballad "Away". The charm turns out to be too cloying; according to old memory, there is not enough dissonance or contrasting tension in it. The art-pop composition "L'Eveil Des Muses" and the ten-minute epic finale of Délivrance "immerse the listener in a world of fantasy, disconnecting him from the rest of the world. The ambitious themes are perfect for voicing the amazing landscapes of Iceland, where the album was recorded. Definitely, the album "Shelter" will not disappoint lovers of calm melancholic music. "
