Пояснения
“Гу” означает гунатита (того, кто выше трех гун), а “ру” означает рупаварджита (того, кто не имеет формы). “Гу” также означает темноту или невежество. “Ру” означает свет или благость.
Что может рассеять темноту? Только свет может сделать это. Следовательно, гуру — тот, кто рассеивает тьму невежества.
Гуру есть Брахман. Он — Творец; Он Сам — творение, и Он — Единый, существующий в творении. Вся Вселенная наполнена Брахманом. Становится ясно, что Тот, Кто Сам стал вселенной, и есть гуру.
Гуру есть Вишну. Кто такой Вишну? Вишну — тот, кто держит в руках раковину, диск, булаву и лотос? Нет. Вишну — тот, кто обладает вездесущностью. Он — Деятель и Он же — действие. Вселенная — действие, Бог — Деятель. Бог — это сознание, которое стоит за причиной и следствием. Вся вселенная есть форма Вишну. Этот Вишну и есть гуру.
Гуру есть Махешвара (Всемогущий Владыка). Кто такой Махешвара? Он правит всеми существами во Вселенной. Он управляет всей Вселенной должным образом. Солнце всходит и заходит по Его приказам. Смена времен года, дождь, день и ночь — Его команды. Ишвара (Господь) делает все — следуйте Его указаниям без малейших отклонений. Гуру не только учит. Гуру всемогущ, всезнающ и вездесущ, — это сам Бог.
Гуру есть Брахма, Вишну и Ишвара. Некоторые люди говорят, что Вишну и Ишвара — не одно и то же. Но думать так — признак невежества. Это только узкомыслие преданных позволяет им думать так.

Explanations
“Gu” means gunatita (one who is above the three gunas), and “ru” means rupavarjita (one who has no form). “Gu” also means darkness or ignorance. “Ru” means light or goodness.
What can dispel the darkness? Only light can do this. Therefore, the guru is one who dispels the darkness of ignorance.
Guru is Brahman. He is the Creator; He Himself is creation, and He is One, existing in creation. The whole universe is filled with Brahman. It becomes clear that the One Who Himself has become the universe is the guru.
Guru is Vishnu. Who is Vishnu? Vishnu - the one who holds in his hands a conch, a disk, a mace and a lotus? Not. Vishnu is one who is ubiquitous. He is the Worker and He is the action. The universe is action, God is the doer. God is the consciousness behind cause and effect. The whole universe is a form of Vishnu. This Vishnu is the guru.
Guru is Maheshvara (Almighty Lord). Who is Maheshvara? He rules all beings in the universe. He rules the whole universe properly. The sun rises and sets according to His orders. The change of seasons, rain, day and night are His commands. Ishvara (Lord) does everything - follow His instructions without the slightest deviation. Guru not only teaches. The guru is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent - that is God Himself.
The guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Ishvara. Some people say that Vishnu and Ishwara are not the same thing. But to think so is a sign of ignorance. It is only the narrow thought of the devotees that allows them to think so.
