Автор ее слов - бретонский священник, литургист, богослов, поэт и бард о. Мишель Скуарнек (Michel Scouarnec), сочинивший немало духовных стихов и песен как на французском, так и на бретонском языке. Жозеф Желино - один из ведущих деятелей литургической реформы и начинатель реформы литургической музыки, неоднократно упоминавшийся в этом журнале, - называл Акепсимаса в числе наиболее талантливых и плодотворных своих сподвижников, принадлежащих к следующему поколению.
Песня основывается на словах Иисуса из Его беседы с Никодимом - Ин 3. 8, где, как известно, обыгрывается двоякий смысл использованных в оригинале слов: "Дух дышит" = "ветер веет". В нашей Синодальной Библии эти слова переведены так: "Дух дышит, где хочет, и голос его слышишь, а не знаешь, откуда приходит и куда уходит". Во французской Иерусалимской Библии - "Le vent souffle où il veut et tu entends sa voix, mais tu ne sais pas d'où il vient ni où il va [Ветер веет, где хочет, и ты слышишь голос его, но не знаешь, ни откуда он приходит, ни куда он идет]". Собственно эти слова почти без изменения взяты в качестве припева.
