Снова Африка к нам пожаловала, но на этот раз уже в жанре progressive metal, ориентированный на восточные корни. Музыканты из Туниса, которые никогда не затрагивают темы каких-либо политических и религиозных вопросов, буквально сразу же сразили наповал своим вторым по счету полноформатным альбомом «Desert Call».На удивление отличный релиз, заслуживающий звание особенного прогрессива, который не то, чтобы можно, его просто нужно послушать. В нем есть все, что полагается, все выполнено на высшем уровне. Подача материала и манера вокального исполнения с сильным уклоном в европейский и западный прогрессив, мощный каркас которого пробивается сквозь полчища восточных элементов. Если бы не все эти самобытные национальные веяния, то даже невозможно себе представить, что команда-то африканская.
Материал сильный, в меру тяжелый, в меру мелодичный, в меру колоритный (то есть в этом плане музыканты не переусердствовали, что весьма радует). Я, признаться честно, уж и заскучала по такому прогрессивному великолепию, но... так часто и так явно релиз напоминает известных Symphony X, да еще и где-то там, в кустах гитарных партий спрятаны некоторые мотивы Dream Theater, а если покопаться еще глубже, то можно найти и Mullmuzzler – сольник Джеймса Ля Бри.
Кстати, за вокальной стойкой - Zaher Zorgati, для которого эта работа явилась дебютом. В отличие от Elyes Bouchoucha - клавишника и вокалиста по совместительству, исполнившего партии вокала на предыдущем альбоме группы – Zaher обладает более мягким и мелодичным голосом, что помогает им держаться подальше от влияния Symphony X, во всяком случае, по отношению к вокальной части. Нельзя не отметить, тот факт, что в качестве продюсера альбома выступил небезызвестный клавишник группы Adagio - Kevin Codfert.
Таким образом, пройдясь по лучшему пути прогрессивного метала, Myrath выдают качественный и солидный материал, даже несмотря на столь заметные влияния. Все-таки музыканты – профессионалы, а как же могло быть иначе, если они, мало того, что практически с пеленок уже слушали металическую музыку и играли на музыкальных инструментах, так еще и каждый заканчивал какое-либо профессиональное музыкальное заведение. Вот и судите сами, что могло из этого получиться, а еще лучше – возьмите да и послушайте. Уверена, что «Desert Call» стоит того.

Musicians from Tunisia, who never touch upon the topic of any political and religious issues, literally immediately hit on the spot with their second full-length album "Desert Call".Surprisingly great release, deserving the title of special progressive, which is not that you can, it just needs to be listened to. It has everything that is supposed to be done, everything is done at the highest level. The presentation of the material and the manner of vocal performance with a strong bias towards European and Western progressive, a powerful framework of which makes its way through the hordes of eastern elements. If it were not for all these distinctive national trends, it would even be impossible to imagine that the team is African.
The material is strong, moderately heavy, moderately melodic, moderately colorful (that is, in this regard, the musicians did not overdo it, which is very pleasing). To be honest, I really missed such a progressive splendor, but ... so often and so clearly the release resembles the famous Symphony X, and even somewhere out there, in the bushes of guitar parts, some Dream Theater motives are hidden, and if you dig more deeper, you can find Mullmuzzler - a solo album by James La Brie.
By the way, behind the vocal stand - Zaher Zorgati, for whom this work was the debut. Unlike Elyes Bouchoucha - keyboardist and vocalist who sang vocals on the band's previous album - Zaher has a softer and more melodic voice, which helps them stay away from the influence of Symphony X, at least in relation to the vocals. It should be noted that the well-known keyboardist of the Adagio group - Kevin Codfert acted as the producer of the album.
Thus, following the best path of progressive metal, Myraths deliver high-quality and solid material, despite such noticeable influences. After all, musicians are professionals, but how could it be otherwise if they, not only from the cradle already listened to metal music and played musical instruments, but also each graduated from any professional musical institution. So judge for yourself what could have come of it, or even better - take it and listen. I'm sure Desert Call is worth it.
