Вокалист Кенни Шилдс начал музыкальную карьеру в 60-х годах, возглавив команду "Witness Incorporated". В 1981 году "Atlantic Records" выкинула в продажу сборник "Best Of Streetheart", а группа тем временем сменила гитариста на Джеффа Нила. С его помощью "Streetheart" выпустили одноименный альбом, ставший их самым большим коммерческим достижением. Работа содержала целый ворох хитов ("Miss Plaza Suite", "What Kind Of Love Is This", "Snow White", "Look In Your Eyes", "One More Time"), а ее тираж дважды пересекал платиновую отметку. К сожалению, закрепить успех не удалось, и студийник 1983 года "Dancing With Danger" оказался провальным. Vocalist Kenny Shields began his musical career in the 60s as head of the Witness Incorporated team. The group toured Canada extensively, performed with Cream and Roy Orbison, and released several singles. The team was on the rise when Shields got into a car accident and was out of the game for several years. Ken fully regained consciousness by the mid-70s, but, having recovered, he immediately returned to his favorite work. After several false starts, he revived "Wintess Inc" with Ken "Spyder" Sinnave, Daryl Guthale and Craig Kalil. The band had already begun touring when Paul Dean and Matt Frenette stepped in to Shields. Acquaintance with these musicians led to the closure of the previous project and the creation in its place of a new one called "Streetheart".A couple of years "street hearts" spent on concerts and gaining an audience, and in 1978 they debuted with the album "Meanwhile Back In Paris". The album, released by Atlantic Records, drew good responses, but the band made their first major breakthrough with the single "Under My Thumb".
This song, borrowed from the Rolling Stones' repertoire, entered the national Top 5, and the EP went gold. Meanwhile Dean left to organize "Loverboy", and on the second album "Streetheart" John Hannah was already listed as guitarists. "Under Heaven Over Hell" went platinum in Canada thanks to hits such as "Hollywood", "Here Comes The Night" and the same "Under My Thumb". However, fluctuations continued in the line-up and Frenette, who soon escaped to "Loverboy", was replaced by Herb Ego. The disc "Quicksand Shoes" recorded by the updated line-up contained good material, but due to the lack of bright hits, the work reached only the gold mark.
Of course, the musicians were not pleased with the decline in sales and, having moved under the roof of Capitol Records, they started producing the next album on their own. As a result, such solid pieces as "Tin Soldier", "Trouble", "Teenage Rage" were born, and the longplay itself brought the band a third platinum.
In 1981, Atlantic Records released the Best Of Streetheart compilation, while the band changed their guitarist to Jeff Neal. With his help, Streetheart released their self-titled album, which was their biggest commercial achievement. The work contained a whole bunch of hits ("Miss Plaza Suite", "What Kind Of Love Is This", "Snow White", "Look In Your Eyes", "One More Time"), and its circulation crossed the platinum mark twice. Unfortunately, the success was not consolidated, and the 1983 studio album "Dancing With Danger" was a flop. Attempts to conquer the American market also failed, and after the release of the double live album "Live After Dark" the group disbanded.
In honor of this event, "Capitol Records" released a compilation of outtakes and unreleases "Buried Treasure", and five years later the company concocted another compilation, "Over 60 Minutes With ... Streetheart" (half-studio, half-concert). 2003 saw the introduction of "Streetheart" into the "Western Canadian Hall of Fame" and after that event, Shields, Gutheil and Neil revived the project with the help of new musicians.
