Знаменитая прекрасная Гэльская песня, по сей день звучащая на ирландских кейли (праздниках) и крупнейшем ежегодном соревновании, Мод. Это своего рода плач обо всех моряках, утонувших в морях Шотландии. Весной 1786, молодой и красивый Аллан Моррисон, капитан из Сторнуэя, который ходил на торговом судне между Льюисом и Островом Мэн, направил свой корабль к острову Скалпэй, где его ждала невеста Энни Кэмпбелл. Но налетела буря, и корабль утонул. Энни Кэмпбелл, убитая горем, заболела и вскоре умерла. The famous beautiful Gaelic song, still played today at the Irish Kaley (holidays) and the largest annual competition, Maud. This is a kind of lamentation for all the sailors who drowned in the seas of Scotland. In the spring of 1786, a young and handsome Allan Morrison, a Stornway captain who sailed on a merchant ship between Lewis and the Isle of Man, steered his ship to Scalpay Island, where his fiancée Annie Campbell was waiting. But a storm came and the ship sank. Annie Campbell, heartbroken, fell ill and soon died. The land on Scalpay Island is not suitable for burial, it is too fragile, and the dead were always taken to the Atlantic Islands. Annie's father put her on a ship to be buried on Harris's finest and most distant island, Rodel. But there was another storm on the way, and the team was forced to throw everything off the ship, including Annie's coffin.Shortly thereafter, Allan Morrison's body was found on the shores of the Shiante Islands, and a few days later Annie's body was also found there.
The song is still alive today and is performed in various variations. Some of them can be heard in Canada, where the inhabitants of the Hebrides of Scotland emigrated in the 19th century.
