- написана в связи с взятием Сингапура 15 февраля 1942 года.
При штурме Сингапура японская 25-я армия, уступавшая противнику в численности и начинавшая испытывать острый недостаток в боеприпасах и продовольствии, проводила самоубийственные атаки, с целью сломить боевой дух противника и ускорить его капитуляцию, и понесла большие потери. В связи с этим было решено не проводить традиционный парад по случаю взятия крепости, а устроить церемонию массовых похорон самоотверженно погибших товарищей. Тысячи солдат должны были нести на своих плечах самодельные коробки с завернутым в белую льняную ткань прахом своих собратьев. Для этой церемонии и была написана песня со словами унтер-офицера финансовой службы Гвардейской дивизии Minoru TATSUHARA и музыкой старшины флотского оркестра Kozo MATSUI.
В годы войны звукозаписывающими фирмами было записано четыре варианта песни с двумя вариантами мелодии (более и менее печальным), с течением хода войны все большую популярность стал приобретать более печальный вариант.

- written in connection with the capture of Singapore on February 15, 1942.
During the assault of Singapore, the Japanese 25th Army, inferior to the enemy in numbers and beginning to experience an acute shortage of ammunition and food, conducted suicidal attacks in order to break the morale of the enemy and accelerate his surrender and suffered heavy losses. In this regard, it was decided not to hold a traditional parade on the occasion of the capture of the fortress, but to arrange a mass funeral ceremony for the self-sacrificing lost comrades. Thousands of soldiers had to carry on their shoulders homemade boxes wrapped in white linen cloth with the ashes of their brethren. For this ceremony, a song was written with the words of the non-commissioned officer of the financial service of the Guards Division, Minoru TATSUHARA and the music of the foreman of the naval band Kozo MATSUI.
During the war, record companies recorded four versions of the song with two versions of the melody (more and less sad), with the course of the war, the more sad version became more popular.
