«Хава нагила» — еврейская песня, написанная в 1918 году собирателем фольклора Авраамом Цви Идельсоном на старинную хасидскую мелодию. Автор музыки неизвестен, однако считается, что она была написана неизвестным клезмером из Восточной Европы не ранее середины XIX века. Название буквально означает «Давайте радоваться». Эта песня исполняется на праздниках и пользуется особой популярностью у евреев. Популярность песни такова, что многие считают её народной. В поп-культуре эта мелодия используется как метоним иудаизма.Некоторые утверждают что песня была сочинена для того, чтобы отметить заход английских войск в Иерусалим в 1917 году, из-за которого поднялась радость среди евреев (так как некоторые считали это предвестием прихода Мессии и возврата на Святую землю). "Khava Nagila" is a Jewish song written in 1918 by a collector of folklore by Abraham Zvi Idelson to an ancient Hasidic melody. The author of the music is unknown, but it is believed that it was written by an unknown klezmer from Eastern Europe not earlier than the middle of the XIX century. The name literally means "Let's rejoice." This song is performed on holidays and is very popular with Jews. The popularity of the song is such that many people consider it folk. In pop culture, this melody is used as a metonym for Judaism.Some argue that the song was composed in order to mark the arrival of British troops in Jerusalem in 1917, because of which the joy among the Jews arose (as some considered it a foretaste of the coming of the Messiah and return to the Holy Land). In 1918, this song, performed by three famous cantors, was recorded on a gramophone. It is also alleged that this was the first recording of a Hebrew song in Israel. During the century, the rhythm changed several times, and the modern version is somewhat different from the original.
