Й розбещені люди
Не бачили біди.
Я бачив в цьому сні,
Як брат вбиває брата,
І зачиняють двері
Від матерів сини,
Чув крики голосні —
Святих вели за грати
Чиновні кровожери,
Не знаючи вини.
Я бачив, як дітей
Замучив дикий голод,
А хтось заможний поряд
Іграв собі у гольф, —
І більшість тих людей,
Що там були навколо,
Не знали собі горя
І грали свою роль.
А ви посміхайтесь —
Це ж все не насправді,
Це темна дорога,
І зазвичай всім все одно.
Й від жаху нехай ми
Зачинюєм ставні —
Прокинувшись від нього,
Ніколи не заснути знов.
