Известность к Вадиму Мулерману пришла в 1966 году: он стал лауреатом Всесоюзного конкурса артистов эстрады с песней «Хромой король» (Александр Дулов — Морис Карем). Из-за идеологической цензуры, усмотревшей в песне намек на политическое руководство Советского Союза, пришлось исключить из песни последний куплет и изменить название на «Король-победитель».Железный шлем, деревянный костыль,
