Земля не создана и небо не родилось,В пучинах тьмы, беснуясь и дрожа,
Волна Апсу и Тиамат соединились,
Могучей силою Вселенную страша.
Судьбой заброшены, забытые навеки –
Чертоги Хаоса – немая пустота.
Во мгле, что пребывает в вечном беге,
Богам возникнуть настала череда.
И Эйя – Бог – не смог забыть бесчестность,
Великой хитростью Апсу одолел,
А Тиамат пришлось покинуть местность,
Бежать в пустыню был ее удел.
С костьми убитого поступили сурово:
Возвел свой храм и поселилися в нем.
И здесь, в тиши пристанища глухого
Мардук родился – будущий герой.
Но страх царит над этим новым миром:
Готовит месть в пустыне Тиамат.
В раздумьях Боги. Мыслию томимы,
Героев кличут, битву дать хотят.
С охотой пылкой Мардук согласился.
Но плату сделал слишком непростой.
«Если мстить за вас стану,
Чтоб Тиамат осилить и победить, –
Соберите Совет, возвысите мой жребий,
Мое Слово, как ваше, да решает все судьбы,
Неизменным да будет все то,
Что воссоздам я!
И никто приказ моих уст не отменит»
Они собрались и отправились вместе,
Все великие боги, что решают судьбы,
Повели беседы, на пиру воссели,
И Мардуку вручили судьбы…
Мардук в свои уста вложил заклятье,
В свои персты вложил он яд-траву,
Семь буйных бурь собрал он в одночасье,
Решеньем тверд – снять с Тиамат главу.
Ее тело раздулось, ее пасть раскрылась.
Он пустил в нее стрелу и рассек ей чрево.
Он нутро ей взрезал, завладел ее сердцем.
Ее он осилил, ей жизнь оборвал он.
Так создал он небо,
Так создал он землю,
Назначил ритуалы,
Установил свой порядок.
Не постичь его сердце,
Не объять его разум,
Да восславят навеки,
Имя его Мардук.
