Із далеких віків, та із сивих давнинЛюди вірять, що Правда на світі жива,
І шукати ту Правду пішов не один,
Та ніхто не вернувся назад.
Раз зібрався в дорогу один чоловік,
Кинув рідних і дім, кинув все, будь що будь!
Обійшов цілий світ, і минув його вік,
Нелегкою була довга путь.
Та він вірив, що Правда на світі жива,
Молода, неземної краси, як богиня,
Свято вірив, що Правда – не просто слова,
Що ніколи вона не загине.
І зустрілась бабуся, потворна й страшна,
Вся у зморшках і шрамах, сліпа і беззуба,
То й була ота Правда, яку він шукав,
Що у битвах знайшла свою згубу.
І від розпачу гірко заплакав старий:
«Люди вірять, що ти молода в прекрасна,
Як я їм розкажу, що я Правду зустрів
Таку кволу, стару і нещасну?»
Ну, а Правда на те посміхнулася криво:
«Ти дитячу їх віру в серцях не души,
Можна все у людей відібрати, крім віри,
А тому ти їм просто збреши.
Ти скажи їм, що Правда на світі жива,
Молода, неземної краси, як богиня,
Нехай вірять, що Правда – не просто слова,
Що ніколи вона не загине…»
