Евангелие от Марка, Глава 13, стихи 24-31.24 Но в те дни, после скорби той, солнце померкнет, и луна не даст света своего,
25 и звезды спадут с неба, и силы небесные поколеблются.
26 Тогда увидят Сына Человеческого, грядущего на облаках с силою многою и славою.
27 И тогда Он пошлет Ангелов Своих и соберет избранных Своих от четырех ветров, от края земли до края неба.
28 От смоковницы возьмите подобие: когда ветви ее становятся уже мягки и пускают листья, то знаете, что близко лето.
29 Так и когда вы увидите то’ сбывающимся, знайте, что близко, при дверях.
30 Истинно говорю вам: не прейдет род сей, как всё это будет.
31 Небо и земля прейдут, но слова Мои не прейдут.

Мы только что слышали пророчество Христа Спасителя о конце света – коренном изменении существующего порядка вещей и установлении новой жизни, открытия во всей полноте Царства Божия. В словах Иисуса для Его слушателей в общем-то не было ничего принципиально нового: Он использует широко распространённые в то время представления о событиях, предваряющих День Господень: глобальных войнах, изменениях космического порядка, многочисленном явлении небесных ангельских сил и других ярких сверхъестественных вещах. Слова Христа о том, что «не закончится род сей – как всё это будет» – история разрушения Иерусалимского храма менее чем через 40 лет после Распятия Христа целиком подтвердила: в иудаизме понятие «род» и «поколение» – тождественны, и, как правило, измеряются именно сорокалетним периодом. То, что многие очевидцы земной жизни Христа, Его распятия и воскресения стали также и свидетелями разрушения Иерусалима, для многих ещё раз подтвердило неложность пророчеств Иисуса Христа.
Но как же быть с другой частью пророчества – где говорится о глобальных катаклизмах, после которых наступит Второе Пришествие Христа с множеством небесных воинств? Дело в том, что целью пророчеств никогда не было всего лишь свидетельство об определенных важных исторических событиях. Это прежде всего – свидетельства педагогического, воспитательного характера. Да, Иерусалим разрушен, народ рассеян – и человечество вступило в следующую фазу исполнения пророчества – ожидание Второго Пришествия. И мы находимся именно в этом периоде: предвкушении завершения земной истории и наступления Царства Божия во всей силе и славе. И это – очень важная отправная точка для правильного выстраивания отношения к ценности всего земного.
Христианин призван быть предельно внимательным и ответственным ко всему, что он делает на этой земле. Но причина этого – вовсе не «ответственность перед поколениями», или «индивидуальный вклад в построение светлого будущего». У нас только одно светлое будущее – с Богом в Его, Божьем, Царстве. А здесь – не более чем инструмент, «учебка», в которой только и можно подготовиться к настоящей жизни. Но это вовсе не значит, что к житейским вопросам тогда можно относиться с пренебрежением, жить абы как. Ни в коем случае! Когда приезжаешь в какой-нибудь известный своей глубокой духовной жизнью монастырь, нельзя не заметить, насколько там всё происходит с большой любовью – и разумностью, в том числе и даже в житейском плане. Казалось бы, должно быть всё наоборот: монахи только и делают, что ведут духовную брань с помыслами, пребывают в молитве и богомыслии, ходят на службы – им и дела-то не должно быть до житейских попечений! Но ответ – именно в этом: порядок внешний – путеводитель к Богу. Если не приучишь себя к распорядку в жизни – и на службу регулярно ходить не сможешь, что уж тогда говорить о каком-то внутреннем делании! С другой стороны, грамотно, с вниманием и умом настроенный быт позволяет минимализировать трату времени и сил на обеспечение наших неизбежных потребностей – и тем самым высвободить больше времени для занятий, действительно важных.
Научи же нас, Господи, крепко и грамотно управлять нашей земной жизнью – но не забывать при этом, что это – не самоцель, а лишь средство нашего спасения!

Mark Gospel, Chapter 13, verses 24-31.24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,
25 And the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.
26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with much power and glory.
27 And then He will send His Angels and gather His chosen ones from the four winds, from the edge of the earth to the edge of heaven.
28 From the fig tree, take the likeness: when its branches are already soft and let the leaves go, then you know that summer is near.
29 So when you see it’s coming true, know what is near at the door.
30 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, as all this be.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

We just heard the prophecy of Christ the Savior about the end of the world - a radical change in the existing order of things and the establishment of a new life, the opening in full of the Kingdom of God. In the words of Jesus for His listeners, in general, there was nothing fundamentally new: He uses the widespread at that time ideas about the events preceding the Lord's Day: global wars, changes in the cosmic order, the numerous manifestation of heavenly angelic forces and other bright supernatural things. The words of Christ that “this generation will not end - how it will all be” - the history of the destruction of the Jerusalem temple less than 40 years after the Crucifixion of Christ fully confirmed: in Judaism, the concepts of “race” and “generation” are identical, and, as a rule are measured precisely by a forty-year period. The fact that many eyewitnesses of Christ's earthly life, His crucifixion and resurrection also became witnesses of the destruction of Jerusalem, for many more once again confirmed the irrelevance of Jesus Christ's prophecies.
But what about the other part of the prophecy - which refers to global cataclysms, after which comes the Second Coming of Christ with many heavenly armies? The fact is that the purpose of the prophecies was never just a testimony of certain important historical events. This is, above all, evidence of a pedagogical, educational character. Yes, Jerusalem is destroyed, the people are scattered - and humanity has entered the next phase of the fulfillment of the prophecy - the expectation of the Second Coming. And we are in this period: the anticipation of the completion of earthly history and the onset of the Kingdom of God in all power and glory. And this is a very important starting point for the proper building of an attitude to the value of everything earthly.
The Christian is called to be extremely attentive and responsible to everything that he does on this earth. But the reason for this is not at all “responsibility to generations”, or “individual contribution to building a bright future”. We have only one bright future - with God in His, God's, Kingdom. And here it’s nothing more than an instrument, a “textbook” in which one can only prepare for real life. But this does not mean at all that then one can treat worldly issues with disdain, live anyhow. In no case! When you come to some monastery known for its deep spiritual life, you cannot help but notice how much everything happens there with great love - and rationality, including even in everyday life. It would seem that it should be the other way around: the monks only do that they conduct spiritual warfare with thoughts, remain in prayer and divine thoughts, go to services - they should not care about everyday life! But the answer is precisely in this: the external order is a guide to God. If you don’t accustom yourself to the routine in life, you won’t be able to go to the service regularly, what can you say about some kind of inner work! On the other hand, a competent, attentive and smart-minded way of life allows you to minimize the waste of time and effort in meeting our inevitable needs - and thereby free up more time for activities that are really important.
Teach us, Lord, to firmly and competently manage our earthly life - but do not forget that this is not an end in itself, but only a means of our salvation!
