CHAPTER 13.

1 A wise son hears the instruction of his father, but a violent one does not listen to reproof.

2 From the fruit of his mouth a man will taste good, but the soul of transgressors is evil.

3 He keeps his mouth, he keeps his soul; but who opens his mouth wide, that's the trouble.

The soul of the lazy wishes, but in vain; and the soul of the diligent will be satisfied.

5 The gospel hates the false word, but the wicked man shames and dishonours himself. 6 The right keeps the undefiled in the way, and wickedness destroys the sinner.

He pretends to be a rich man, but he does not have anything; another impersonates the poor, but his wealth is plentiful.

8 By his wealth, a man redeems his life, but a poor man does not hear threats.

9 The light of the righteous glows merrily, but the lamp of the wicked is quenched. [The cunning souls wander in sins, but the righteous are compassionate and merciful.]

10 From arrogance there is discord, and in counseling - wisdom.

11 The wealth of vanity is exhausted, but the one who gathers by works multiplies it.

12Hope that does not come true for a long time, makes you sad, but your desire is like a tree of life.

13 He who neglects a word, does harm to himself; but whoever is afraid of the commandment is rewarded.

14 [The son of the wicked one has nothing good, but the wise servant works well, and his way is straight.]

The teaching of the wise is the source of life, removing from the nets of death.

16The good mind gives pleasure, but the path of lawless ones is cruel.

17Any wise man acts with knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly.

18Hudoy the ambassador is in trouble, and the faithful messenger is salvation.

19 She lacks and shames the one who rejects teaching; but whoever observes instruction will be in honor.

The desire for fulfillment is pleasant for the soul; but it is unbearable for the foolish to shy away from evil.

21 He that associates with the wise will be wise, but he who is friends with fools will be corrupted.

22Hreshnikov pursues evil, but the righteous are rewarded with good.

23The good leave an inheritance to his grandchildren, but the wealth of the sinner is reserved for the righteous.

A lot of bread happens in the poor fields too; but some perish from disorder.

25 Whom he pities his rod, he hates his son; but whoever loves, he punishes him from childhood.

26The giver eats until he is full, but the womb of lawless ones suffers deprivation.
