ВЕТХИЙ ЗАВЕТПритчи Соломона
ГЛАВА 16.
1Человеку принадлежат предположения сердца, но от Господа ответ языка.
2Все пути человека чисты в его глазах, но Господь взвешивает души.
3Предай Господу дела твои, и предприятия твои совершатся.
4Все сделал Господь ради Себя; и даже нечестивого блюдет на день бедствия.
5Мерзость пред Господом всякий надменный сердцем; можно поручиться, что он не останется ненаказанным. [Начало доброго пути - делать правду; это угоднее пред Богом, нежели приносить жертвы. Ищущий Господа найдет знание с правдою; истинно ищущие Его найдут мир.]
6Милосердием и правдою очищается грех, и страх Господень отводит от зла.
7Когда Господу угодны пути человека, Он и врагов его примиряет с ним.
8Лучше немногое с правдою, нежели множество прибытков с неправдою.
9Сердце человека обдумывает свой путь, но Господь управляет шествием его.
10В устах царя - слово вдохновенное; уста его не должны погрешать на суде.
11Верные весы и весовые чаши - от Господа; от Него же все гири в суме.
12Мерзость для царей - дело беззаконное, потому что правдою утверждается престол.
13Приятны царю уста правдивые, и говорящего истину он любит.
14Царский гнев - вестник смерти; но мудрый человек умилостивит его.
15В светлом взоре царя - жизнь, и благоволение его - как облако с поздним дождем.
16Приобретение мудрости гораздо лучше золота, и приобретение разума предпочтительнее отборного серебра.
17Путь праведных - уклонение от зла: тот бережет душу свою, кто хранит путь свой.
18Погибели предшествует гордость, и падению - надменность.
19Лучше смиряться духом с кроткими, нежели разделять добычу с гордыми.
20Кто ведет дело разумно, тот найдет благо, и кто надеется на Господа, тот блажен.
21Мудрый сердцем прозовется благоразумным, и сладкая речь прибавит к учению.
22Разум для имеющих его - источник жизни, а ученость глупых - глупость.
23Сердце мудрого делает язык его мудрым и умножает знание в устах его.
24Приятная речь - сотовый мед, сладка для души и целебна для костей.
25Есть пути, которые кажутся человеку прямыми, но конец их путь к смерти.
26Трудящийся трудится для себя, потому что понуждает его к тому рот его.
27Человек лукавый замышляет зло, и на устах его как бы огонь палящий.
28Человек коварный сеет раздор, и наушник разлучает друзей.
29Человек неблагонамеренный развращает ближнего своего и ведет его на путь недобрый; 30прищуривает глаза свои, чтобы придумать коварство; закусывая себе губы, совершает злодейство; [он - печь злобы].
31Венец славы - седина, которая находится на пути правды.
32Долготерпеливый лучше храброго, и владеющий собою лучше завоевателя города.
33В полу бросается жребий, но все решение его - от Господа.

CHAPTER 16.
1 Man belongs to the assumptions of the heart, but from the Lord is the answer of the tongue.
2All the ways of a man are pure in his eyes, but the Lord weighs souls.
3Commit your works to the Lord, and your works will be done.
4The Lord did everything for his own sake; and even the wicked one watches over the day of distress.
5 Everyone who is haughty in heart is an abomination to the Lord; you can guarantee that he will not go unpunished. [The beginning of a good journey is to do the truth; it is more pleasing to God than making sacrifices. He who seeks the Lord will find knowledge with righteousness; those who truly seek Him will find peace.]
6 By mercy and righteousness, sin is cleansed, and the fear of the Lord takes away from evil.
7When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord, He also reconciles his enemies to him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than a multitude of profits with unrighteousness.
9 A man's heart ponders its path, but the Lord controls his procession.
10An inspired word is in the mouth of the king; his mouth must not sin in judgment.
11 Faithful scales and scales are from the Lord; from Him are all the weights in the bag.
12 Abomination to kings is a lawless deed, because the throne is established by righteousness.
13Righteous lips delight a king, and he loves the one who speaks the truth.
14 Tsar's wrath is a messenger of death; but a wise man will propitiate him.
15In the bright gaze of the king is life, and his favor is like a cloud with a late rain.
16The acquisition of wisdom is much better than gold, and the acquisition of intelligence is preferable to the finest silver.
17The path of the righteous is to avoid evil: he protects his soul, who keeps his way.
18 Pride comes before destruction, and arrogance before a fall.
19It is better to be humble in spirit with the meek than to share the spoil with the proud.
20 Whoever does business wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord is blessed.
21 The wise in heart will be called prudent, and sweet speech will add to the teaching.
22 Reason to those who have it is the source of life, but the learning of the foolish is foolishness.
23 The heart of a wise man makes his tongue wise and increases knowledge in his mouth.
24 Pleasant speech is honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
25There are paths that seem straight to man, but their end is the path to death.
26The laborer works for himself, because his mouth compels him to do so.
27 A wicked man is plotting evil, and on his lips is like a scorching fire.
28 A cunning man sows discord, and the earpiece separates friends.
29 An ill-intentioned man corrupts his neighbor and leads him on an unkind path; 30 he narrows his eyes to think of deceit; biting his lips, he commits villainy; [he is the furnace of malice].
31The crown of glory is the gray hair that is in the path of righteousness.
32 The long-suffering is better than the brave, and the self-master is better than the conqueror of the city.
33A lot is cast in the floor, but the whole decision is from the Lord.
