(Деяния святых Апостолов 5:12-42)С великой силой апостолы продолжали свое служение милосердия, исцеляя больных и успешно проповедуя истину о распятом и воскресшем Спасителе. Множество людей принимали крещение и присоединялись к Церкви, но из тех, чье сердце и разум не примирились с уверовавшими во Христа, никто не осмеливался изменить свою жизнь. Толпы народа стекались в Иерусалим, люди приносили больных и одержимых нечистыми духами. Многих страждущих клали на мостовую, когда мимо проходили Петр и Иоанн, чтобы их тени упали на больных и исцелили от болезней. И в самом деле, сила воскресшего Спасителя исходила от апостолов, и они творили чудеса и знамения. Соответственно ежедневно увеличивалось и число уверовавших во Христа.
Происходящее весьма беспокоило священников и правителей, особенно тех из них, кто принадлежал к саддукеям. Они понимали, что если позволить апостолам проповедовать о воскресшем Спасителе и совершать чудеса Его именем, то их, саддукеев, учение о том, что нет воскресения мертвых, будет всеми отвергнуто и их секта вскоре лишится приверженцев. Фарисеи, в свою очередь, видели, что проповедь о Христе и о Его воскресении наносит удар по иудейским обрядам, убеждая людей, что жертвоприношения потеряли всякий смысл. До этого все попытки подавить это новое учение потерпели неудачу; и теперь саддукеи и фарисеи твердо решили положить конец волнениям среди народа.
Ангел освобождает узников
Апостолов снова арестовали и бросили в темницу. Для суда над ними созвали синедрион. Помимо постоянных членов были приглашены многие ученые. Вместе они обсуждали, что делать с этими возмутителями спокойствия. "Но Ангел Господень ночью отворил двери темницы и, выведши их, сказал: идите и, ставши во храме, говорите народу все сии слова жизни. Они, выслушавши, вошли утром в храм и учили".
Когда апостолы появились среди верующих и рассказали, как ангел провел их прямо среди солдат, стерегущих темницу, повелев им возобновить прерванное священниками и правителями свидетельство, братья были несказанно изумлены и обрадованы.
Тем временем священники и правители, собравшиеся на совет, решили обвинить апостолов в мятеже и убийстве Анании и Сапфиры (см. Деян. 5:1-11), а также в заговоре против священников и приговорить их к смертной казни. Они надеялись, что это разъярит толпу, которая, взяв дело в свои руки, поступит с учениками так же, как с Иисусом. (Acts 5: 12-42 of the Holy Apostles)With great power the apostles continued their ministry of mercy, healing the sick and successfully preaching the truth about the crucified and risen Savior. Many people were baptized and joined the Church, but of those whose heart and mind were not reconciled with those who believed in Christ, no one dared to change their lives. Crowds of people flocked to Jerusalem, people brought sick and possessed by unclean spirits. Many sufferers were put on the pavement when Peter and John passed by, so that their shadows fell on the sick and healed of the diseases. Indeed, the power of the risen Savior came from the apostles, and they performed miracles and signs. Accordingly, the number of those who believed in Christ increased daily.
What was happening was very troubling to priests and rulers, especially those who belonged to the Sadducees. They understood that if they allowed the apostles to preach about the risen Savior and perform miracles in His name, then their Sadducees, the doctrine that there is no resurrection of the dead, will be rejected by all and their sect will soon be deprived of adherents. The Pharisees, in turn, saw that preaching about Christ and His resurrection dealt a blow to the Jewish rites, convincing people that sacrifice had lost all meaning. Before that, all attempts to suppress this new teaching had failed; and now the Sadducees and the Pharisees have firmly decided to put an end to the unrest among the people.
Angel releases prisoners
The apostles were again arrested and thrown into prison. The Sanhedrin was summoned to trial them. In addition to permanent members, many scientists were invited. Together they discussed what to do with these troublemakers. "And the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison by night, and brought them out, and said, Go, and standing in the temple, speak unto the people all these words of life." When they heard it, they went into the temple in the morning and taught. "
When the apostles appeared among the believers and told how the angel led them right among the soldiers guarding the dungeon, commanding them to resume the testimonies interrupted by the priests and rulers, the brothers were inordinately amazed and delighted.
Meanwhile, the priests and rulers who gathered for the council decided to accuse the apostles of the revolt and murder of Ananias and Sapphira (see Acts 5: 1-11), and conspiracy against the priests and sentence them to death. They hoped that this would enrage the crowd, who took matters into their own hands, do the disciples as they did with Jesus. The Sanhedrin knew that many who did not accept the teachings of Christ were tired of the arbitrariness of the Jewish authorities and longed for change, so the priests were afraid that if these disgruntled people accepted the truths preached by the apostles and recognized Jesus as the Messiah, the wrath of the whole people would turn against them, religious leaders, and they will have to answer for the murder of Christ. It was decided to take effective measures to prevent this. Finally they sent for the prisoners who were, as everyone thought, in prison. Great was their astonishment when they were informed that the doors of the dungeon were carefully locked, guarding in their places, but there were no prisoners.
Soon the message came: "Behold, the men whom you imprisoned in the temple stand in the temple and teach the people." Despite the fact that the apostles miraculously freed from prison, they still were not saved from trial and punishment. Christ said, when he was with them: "Look after you, for you will be delivered to the judgments" (Mark 13: 9). Sending an angel to release them, God made them understand that He cares for them and remains with them. Now they had to suffer for Jesus, whom they preached. All that was seen and heard produced an impression on people that the priests and rulers realized that it would be impossible to set up a people against the apostles.
Second Court
"Then the captain of the guard went with the servants and brought them without compulsion, because they feared the people, that they should not be stoned, and they brought them up, and set them in the council, and the high priest asked them, saying," Have we forbidden you to teach us this name?
