Реформация не закончилась со смертью Лютера, как полагают многие. Она будет продолжаться до последних дней истории этого мира. Лютеру предстояло совершить великое дело, отражая свет, которым Бог осветил его разум. Однако он не получил весь свет, который должен был излиться миру. The Reformation did not end with the death of Luther, as many believe. It will continue until the last days of the history of this world. Luther had to accomplish a great deal, reflecting the light that God illumined his mind. However, he did not receive all the light that was to flow to the world. From the time of Luther to the present day, the new light constantly illuminates the Holy Scriptures, revealing ever new truths of the Divine Word.Luther and his companions did a good deed for the Lord; but because they were from the Roman Catholic Church, they believed in many erroneous provisions of her dogma and defended them. For this reason, they could not recognize all the errors of the papacy. Luther and his followers had to break the fetters of Rome and give the world the Word of God, but they failed to disclose to people all the truths and they did not reject many serious errors. Most reformers continued to celebrate not only the first day of the week, but also other Catholic holidays. They did not consider the celebration of the first day of the week as the affirmation of Divine authority, but believed that it should be respected as a generally accepted day of worship of God. Among the reformers there were also those who revered the Sabbath, following the fourth commandment. They belong to an honorable place among the reformers of the Church, as they proved and defended the truth, even neglected by Protestants. It is about the immutability of the fourth commandment and the binding nature of its observance, as the Bible says. When the Reformation dispersed the darkness that covered all of Christianity, in many countries there were people observing the true Sabbath.
Those who received the great blessings of the Reformation did not go any further along the path to which Luther once nobly entered. From time to time appeared faithful and consecrated people who proclaimed a new truth and exposed the hitherto concealed delusion, to which the Roman church followed many centuries; but most, like the Jews in the days of Christ or the Papists in the time of Luther, believed in what their fathers believed, and lived as ancestors lived. Therefore, religion once again degenerated to the level of formalism, and all the errors that had to give way to the truth, if the Church continued to walk in the light of God's Word, and all superstitions still took place and were jealously guarded. So the spirit that breathed the Reformation into the Church and into society gradually faded away, until the equally great need for renewal in the Protestant churches themselves, as it was in the Catholic during Luther's time, was finally ripened. Among the Protestants there was the same spiritual stagnation, the same reverence for the opinion of mortal people, the same spirit of secularism, the same replacement of the Word of God with human theories and fabrications. Pride and extravagance were hidden under the guise of holiness. The rapprochement with the world led the church to corruption. Thus, the great principles were overthrown, for which Luther and his companions suffered so much and suffered.
When Satan realized that he had not succeeded in suppressing the truth through persecution, he again used his tried weapons-he inclined the supporters of the Reformation to the same compromise that led to apostasy and the Catholic Church. The devil inclined the Christians to an alliance not with the Gentiles, but with those who, by worshiping the god of this age, showed themselves to be real idolaters.
Satan could no longer hide the Bible from people-now everyone could read it freely, but he encouraged thousands of believers to accept false interpretations of the Word of God and erroneous teachings without bothering with personal study of the Holy Scriptures. He perverted the biblical doctrines, and the traditions and traditions of man, with the help of which millions of people were subsequently destroyed, took deep roots. The Church in every possible way supported and defended these traditions and traditions, instead of "striving for the faith once betrayed by the saints" (Jude 3). And now, completely unaware of his condition and not noticing the imminent danger. The church and the world were rapidly approaching the most solemn and important period of the earth's history-the period of the revelation of the Son of Man.
