Памятник связистам поставят в Ростове позже, чем планировалось. Первоначально скульптура должна была появиться к 7 мая – в этот день связисты отмечают свой профессиональный праздник. Теперь же её решено поставить у входа в парк Островского в сентябре – ко Дню города, сообщили нам в областном министерстве связи. Там пояснили, что слишком затянулся процесс выбора макета. Создание памятника приурочили к 115-й годовщине с момента первого сеанса гражданской радиосвязи. Его провёл на Дону в 1901-м году изобретатель радио Александр Попов.Радиостанция и передатчик были установлены на острове Перебойном, недалеко от посёлка Рогожкино. Попов самолично контролировал монтаж и наладку оборудования. Один из аппаратов находился в дельте Дона, другой – в здании лоцманского поста, где в это время размещалась правительственная телеграфная станция. Первой информацией, которую Попову удалось передать в эфир, стала дата (27 августа 1901 года) и время сигнала. Сведения, переданные с острова, поступили сначала в Ростов, а потом распространились по всей России.
Голосовали за понравившийся макет памятника (всего их было 12) в течение апреля на сайте Министерства связи. На днях выборы завершились: лучшей признали идею, которую предложил филиал радиочастотного центра центрального федерального округа: стрелы на постаменте удерживают земной шар – они символизируют электросвязь, на полюсе расположен голубь с конвертом в клюве. Планета опоясана орбитой, на которую нанесены символы и знаки всех видов связи. По мнению скульптора цеха художественного литья «Братья Костевы» Валентина Костева, скульптуру нужно немного доработать – сделать её антивандальной.

Предполагается, что скульптура будет пятиметровой и бронзовой. Деньги на неё пожертвуют частные предприятия. Возможно, собирать средства будут с помощью одной из краудфандинговых платформ, заявлял в феврале областной министр связи и информационных технологий Герман Лопаткин. Тогда же он озвучил примерную стоимость монумента – больше миллиона рублей, в зависимости от материалов.

Добавлю, этот год для Ростова богат на новые памятники – сегодня открыли монумент, посвящённый ликвидаторам аварии на Чернобыльской АЭС, а 9 мая, в день победы, в сквере 353-й стрелковой дивизии, откроют скульптуру герою советского союза Алексею Бересту.

Voted for the planned layout of the monument (they were all 12) during April on the website of the Ministry of Communications. The other day, the election was completed: the best recognized the idea that the branch of the Radio Frequency Center of the Central Federal District offered: the arrows at the pedestal hold the globe - they symbolize telecommunications, the pole is located with an envelope in the beak. According to the sculptor, the artworks of the art cast "Brothers Kostema" Valentina Kosheva, the sculpture must be modified a little - make it anti-vandal.

It is assumed that the sculpture will be five meter and bronze. The money will donate private enterprises. Perhaps collecting funds will be with the help of one of the crowdfunding platforms, stated in February the regional minister of communication and information technologies Herman Lopatkin. Then he voiced the approximate cost of the monument - more than a million rubles, depending on the materials.

I add, this year for Rostov is rich in new monuments - today they opened a monument dedicated to the liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP, and on May 9, on the day of victory, in the square of the 353rd Rifle Division, will open the sculpture of the Hero of the Soviet Union by Alexei Berest.
